Q1:Do I need to become member to check prize bonds online?

Ans:
No, there is no need to become a member for online checking of prize bonds. You only have to enter your e-mail address, bond number and click go for checking whether there is a win or not.
Q2: In which denominations are prize bonds available?

Ans: Presently, the Govt. of Pakistan, in order to encourage saving, is offering prize bonds with face value of Rs. 200, 750, 1500, 7500, 15000 and 40000.
Q3: How much does it cost me to check my prize Bonds?

Ans: Online checking of prize bonds is free service of www.pbpk.com. There is no fee or charges of any kind. It is basically an effort to create an IT culture in Pakistan and to introduce innovative online services in the country, which are FREE OF CHARGE for our valuable users. Furthermore, this is also a step towards helping the Government of Pakistan to encourage people to increase their savings.
Q4: Can I check prize bonds if I don't have e-mail address?

Ans: Yes, you can still check prize bonds if you don't have e-mail address by entering your friend or family member's e-mail address. We suggest that you should use your own e-mail address by quickly creating an e-mail account at Kalpoint.com.
Q5: Whom should I contact if I encounter any problems while checking?

Ans: We do not offer live technical support over the telephone. However, we will do our best to assist you by email should you need help outside our FAQs guide. If you encounter any major problem, you can contact us through email at KalSons@KalPoint.com.
Q6: What is the eligibility of a Prize Bond to win a draw?

Ans: Only that Prize Bond whose date of issuance is at least 60 days prior to the draw date, is entitled for a Prize.
Q7: How can I know when a particular draw will be held?

Ans: State Bank of Pakistan issues a schedule for the whole year, which is also available at www.Pbpk.com. It is also available in pocket sized calendars, which are available at all branches of Kalia & Sons. Furthermore, as soon as the draw is held, the message is run on the header of KalPoint.com for two days.
Q8: Where can I purchase and sell prize bonds?

Ans: You can trade these instruments at any branch of any Prize Bonds Dealers, Commercial Bank or State Bank of Pakistan at even rates before shut period, and only from prize bond dealers at open market rates during the shut period. The open market rates can be seen at www.pbpk.com.
Q9: What does the term shut period mean?

Ans: 60 days prior to a draw, the State Bank stops selling the prize bonds of that particular denomination. This period of 60 days is called the shut period. Usually prize bonds are traded at open market rates during this time.
Q10: Do I have to write the series number for checking prize bonds?

Ans: No, since Nov. 15, 2000 there has been a common draw for all series of prize bonds for a particular denomination. So, there is no need to write alphabetical characters before the numbers in the checking slot in order to check these bonds.

Q11: What about those draws that took place before Nov 15, 2000?

Ans: For those draws that were held before Nov 15, 2000, it was compulsory to match the series number with the winning number and also to check the validity of the prize bond in order to win the prize.
Q12: Do I have to match the series of my prize bonds now with the wining numbers ?

Ans: No, not at all. Now u have to match the numbers only.
Q13: How can I claim the Prize?

Ans: To claim the prize you need to fill an application along with a copy of NIC and submit it to the State Bank of Pakistan. The claim form is also available at our website for downloading.
Q 14: After claiming my prize, how long will I have to wait to actually get the prize in my hands?

Ans: After eight days of every draw, SBP starts receiving the claims applications. Usually it pays immediate cash if worth of the win is from Rs.1000 to Rs. 20,000. However, if the amount of win is more than Rs.20,000, it is going to take almost a month for the pay order to be delivered.
Well, the winning bonds can also be encashed immediately after the draw by a prize bonds dealer by paying some service charges OR with own (extra) money incase the win is big.
Q15: How much tax would be deducted if I win a prize?

Ans: Since July 1999, there has been a 10% deduction of withholding tax for every prize.
Q16: Can I download the National Saving's Official Draw results list (Commonly known as SBP List) from KalPoint.com?

Ans: State Bank's list of Prize Bonds can be viewed at our site the next day of the draw. Once you enter our prize bonds category, all you have to do is submit your email address along with the denomination of prize bonds, and then choose the draw list, from the Draw List Box. Hence, you can view and download the entire list.
Q17: What is open Market rate of Prize Bonds?

Ans: State Bank and commercial banks stop selling and purchasing prize bonds after one month of draw of a particular denomination of prize bond. Transactions continue in open market with premium. This premium increases as the date of draw comes closer. This is called open market rate. These rates are updated regularly at www.pbpk.com.

Q18: What is the valid time period for claiming a particular prize?

Ans: Maximum time period to avail the prize is six years from the date of draw.
Q19: What should I do if I win a prize?

Q20: Can I have the winning list on my email address?

Ans: No. We are sorry, we have not offered any such service up till now. You have to visit www.pbpk.con to check out the list.
However, winning alerts may be received directly on your email address by getting registered at our Virtual Vault category, free of cost.

Q21: I am unable to load pages on the site?

Ans: You may be using Netscape. Try using Internet Explorer. On the other hand, this may be because of slow Net speed.
Q22: I am getting a server error when I try to load pages from the site?

Ans: Try using Internet Explorer. Since sometimes while browsing in Netscape it sometimes gives problems. This can also be due to slow Net speed.
Q23. Does your system check the prize bond numbers from the 1st draw to the latest one?

Ans: Our system does check amongst all previous but valid draws while checking in 'All Draws' mode. However prize bonds can also be checked for any particular draw by using draw selection option available in a combo box. Please note that validity of a prize to be claimed is Six years, hence draws held before six years become invalid. Our software is made to check only valid draws that means it does check amongst the draws held in last six years. Invalid draw results are being eliminated automatically by our system.
Q24. If the system indicates that a bond number has won twice in 2 different draws, will it get a single winning amount or would it be double?

Ans: If the system shows win on a same bond number in 2 separate draws, the holder of the bond is eligible for 2 wins, that is twice the prize money. However, 2 separate claim forms need to be filled for each of the 2 draws.
